Chris + Petrina: An Idaho Falls LDS Temple Wedding

When I found out Chris had gotten engaged, I knew I wanted to be a part of his wedding day. Chris's family is my "home away from home," as his younger sister Heather has been my very best friend since middle school (see her maternity session here). So, we made it happen. They flew me out to Idaho so I could photograph their beautiful wedding day on a sunny summer morning in August. We spent the heat of the day at the Idaho Falls LDS temple, photographing their post-sealing-ceremony glow. Then we headed straight to Chris's family's home where the reception was being held.

I loved seeing bits and pieces of both Chris's and Petrina's personality scattered and hidden throughout the day: Petrina's combat boots, which her friends told me she wears everywhere, peeking out from underneath her wedding dress. Chris's cuff-links showing off his love for Avatar: The Last Airbender. Petrina's Swiss Army Knife clipped to her sash on her dress. Their Avatar cake topper and of course - a Samurai sword to cut the cake. They both also share a love for literature, and they decorated the reception tables with their favorites books. It was so fun to catch the guests and wedding party taking a minute to read a chapter out of a book throughout the night!  These little touches made for the most unique wedding I have ever photographed!  I felt right at home, being back in Idaho, back in a home I had visited so many times throughout my teenage years, and seeing familiar faces and dear friends I hadn't seen in years! Thanks for letting me capture your special day.

  1. Beautiful pics! But I totally wanted to see the Avatar cake topper. (And the cufflinks were awesome.)
