Axton {Maryland Child Photographer}

I gave myself a present this week.

The last time I did a formal, hour-long photo session with my son, he was 3 months old. Sure, I take snapshots of him nearly everyday, and maybe I will edit one or two of them, but a real photo session? I just don't allow myself time for that often enough (I'm sure for any other photographers out there, you understand where I'm coming from).

First, I dressed him up cute, told him to behave and smile at the camera. I was the Mom, not the photographer. Then I switched roles, turned off Mommy mode, and became the photographer. I set up my crate, and chased him around and danced like an idiot to get him to smile at me. We went to the duck pond and the park, and I just kept shooting. I didn't get mad at him when he didn't listen. I let him lead the way - just like I do with any other session. After the 60 minutes were over, I thanked myself and said I should be seeing a CD in the next week or two. Then I got busy editing. I gave myself the same treatment I give my clients: Carefully selecting and editing, and now POSTING! As my final step in my gift to myself, I will print and hang my favorites in my home.

It was a great learning activity for me - to be on the other side. To know what it's like to be treated by me, the photographer! I hope my clients know they can always come to me and tell me what would improve their experiences with m.rose photography - I am learning just like the rest of us!

Anywho, enjoy these photos of my lovely client, Axton.
